It's time for part two of Back To The Basics: Accessories! I know all women have some sort of attachment to their shoes, if not having a signature style of shoe they always gravitate toward. Whatever your style, stick to it! For example, you can see I've selected some simple choices in footwear. This makes it simple for me to pair with an outfit and creates more versatility in your wardrobe. First I have some strappy sandals for running around in the summer but for those steamy summer nights with my babe, I have to have a pair of classic black stilettos! These ones are absolutely perfect from TopShop for $85! LOVE!
For fall and winter, you can't catch me in anything other than black booties! I could have 1,000 pair of black boots and still want more! They are such a staple in my wardrobe and sensible for my life as a mother. These square toe booties from Forever21 are a must have and an absolute steal for $38! When I want to spice up an outfit, I'll go for a good pair of chunky wedges for a 70's vibe! These cool grey slingbacks from Forever21 are perfect to add some funk to an outfit also not tough on your bank account being only $35! They are perfect alone but I adore them with a chunky knit sock or even thigh high tights would be sexier! Now let's talk bags..I also am aware that women have a certain attachment to their purses and bags. But, like footwear, a woman can easily simplify her bag collection down to one general favorite style. Now, what I'm about to say may be shocking but hear me out! You are only going to have ONE purse. I know I know. One purse!? For every outfit!? For every day of the week!? One purse!? For every outing!? Think of it this way, if you spend a decent amount of money on a quality purse that you take care of and provided you with every function and style need, you only truly need one. Like I said simplifying your life can be hard!

When it comes to simplifying your life, if you are truly committed you must simplify every aspect of your life or you are just working against your commitment to simplify in the first place. One of the hardest places to simplify is your wardrobe. For me, I naturally am drawn to minimal clothing such as a plain white tee and a good pair of relaxed jeans. When you minimize your wardrobe you create more versatility in the pieces you choose to keep! I have created a guideline to minimizing your wardrobe to 20 pieces! Including shoes!
First up is denim. Think about your favorite pair and stick with those. My wardrobe calls for a good boyfriend pair, a pair of black high wasted skinnies, and this season I'm going with dark wash overalls. All three of these are extremely versatile and can be dressed up or down! Keep that in mind when going through pieces: you don't want to keep a pair of acid wash or Aztec patterned jeans that can't be dressed up and are just going to be out of style next season anyway. For summer, go with a good fitting pair of denim shorts. I love super rugged, holy denim shorts that come right above mid thigh. Not Hollister booty shorts but also not Bermuda cut either. Another pair of shorts I like to have around are a pair of breezy black shorts like the ones shown! They are perfect for just throwing on over a swim suit or just add a crop top and gladiator sandals and your off on a lunch date looking chic! Every perfect pair of jeans or shorts needs a perfect top to go with them! The essential tops needed are a white tee, black tee, and a grey or tan tee! All in the same style! I love these sort of wardrobes because you can find your perfect tee and buy it in 3 different colors. I've already stated in previous posts that my perfect tee is super soft, loose fitted, swoop neck and a little sheer! Goodness that sounds like heaven right now! These plain tees may seem boring but they WILL ALWAYS be in style and can be paired with anything making them perfect for dressing up or down. I would suggest keeping a favorite top that you frequently wear to go out in. When it gets a bit chilly, you'll need long sleeves. I would have every color in cashmere sweaters if I could but just pick your favorite two. I like soft crew neck sweaters, preferably in black! There is nothing I love more than an all black outfit against the contrast of the white snow in winter! Another great long sleeve piece to consider in your wardrobe is a cardigan! These are perfect if you aren't feeling too great about your body or if you are going for a relaxed look. Another staple in my closet is a dress. I'd suggest keeping three dress. A black tee shirt dress is A MUST! You can add a belt, embellished jacket, or statement necklace to dress it up or simply wear it around the house! A sleeveless, razorback dress can also be beneficial to your wardrobe! Also keep a fun dress of your choice like this great blue striped dress! Simplifying your life can be tough and I know first hand that it's hard to get rid of clothes. It feels amazing to simplify your life in such a way that you make material items unimportant while remaining stylish! The new year is a great time to come out of your shell! And what better way than jazzing up your wardrobe!? This time of the year can be very encouraging and esteem boosting with all of the new personal resolutions being made; people are feeling good about themselves. Put that energy to good use, be brave and wear something eye catching! You can catch some excitement in an outfit by adding a bold pop of color! These wide-leg pants in vibrant poppy are perfect! This pant is high-wasted, which is flattering on all figures and the bright hue gets you ready for warmer weather! I decided to pair those with a crop polo-neck sweater in a dark beige! The neckline is a dramatic addition to those funky poppy pants! The almost golden hue is married perfectly with the bright orange! I I also think this sweater would look great with a gold sequin maxi skirt! I then added some great leather wedges to show off under those wide-leg pants when you walk and a matching leather clutch! Accessories are up to you but with this color scheme I would go with all gold jewelry!
After seeing Botanics Ionic Clay Mask mentioned in a variety of different best seller's lists, I decided to go ahead and give it a try myself. Reviews of this mask are great so far and have been very helpful for all skin types. Using oceanic minerals, Botanics Ionic Clay Mask contains a negative electrical charge, helping pull out impurities from the skin and unclogging stubborn pores! THE PROCESS I wet my face with some warm water to help open my pores. Then I sneezed the clay onto my fingertips. It's a quite watery mask so shake well before you open it. I then applied the mask in circular motions onto my face and made sure to cover all of my problem areas! When I first put this mask on it was almost instant when I started noticing my skin tingle a bit. The clay will dry pretty quickly! Don't leave it on more than 15 or 20 minutes to prevent your skin from drying out! If this does happen, simply apply a liberal amount of your favorite moisturizer onto your face and that should stop the dryness. I wiped the mask off with a wet warm wash cloth and then splashed the water on my face to give it a good healthy rinse! I then patted my face with a clean, dry towel. THE REVIEW Afterward, my skin felt fresh and very smooth! The blackheads that I had were somehow pulled from my problem areas and my skin was new looking. The mask tube says to use weekly and I completely plan to do so! We get so many impurities in our pores every single day and regular cleansing just doesn't do the job! Masks are necessary in my beauty collection! You need a little extra help sometimes to get your skin a deeper clean. |
