Having a 6-week-old is absolutely the greatest thing in my life right now but staying in a house all day with my newborn, who could care less about what I look like, can become detrimental to style all together. I started looking at mommy blogs instead of my usual fashion and interior design blogs. In fact, I got a bit bored with staying at home all day with no one but my newborn. A way I have gotten my groove back with style is by not only writing about it and reading my daughter fashion mags instead of mommy blogs but, by dressing a little better around the house. I'm not suggesting putting on your jewels and heels but to snazz up your usual. So ditch the grey sweats with spit up crusted on them and milk soaked tank top and go for a more confidence boosting ensemble. A great way to feel a little dressy is by slipping on something silky or lacy. I love wearing a sexy tank and short set with a robe around the house. I absolutely adore kimonos as a dressy piece! They are usually silk and have fringe or a great pattern on them! Kimonos can add a great relaxed vibe in any outfit but around the house they are suburb for fancying up an old pajama set. Dressing up around the house boosts my confidence a little after giving birth. Not to mention I am always ready for random house visits from family members who stop by to see Nova. I feel like I walk around more proudly when I'm dressed a little better! I hope it works for you too! The winter months bring cold weather that make me bundle up in my heaviest jumpers and chunkiest knits! But sometimes it's good to change it up and go with the flow of the cold season. So slip on some winter tones! They may read chilly but these stylish ensembles are sure to satisfy you with warmth during the brisk months of December and January! A perfect way to add a little winter into your wardrobe is to add cool tones pieces. I love chilly greys supplemented with pastel blues and creamy whites. This type of color scheme gives off a relaxed vibe and is perfect for getting a chic look in little time by using your most versatile pieces in your closet! I've shown three different outfits using the same white distressed boyfriend jeans to show versatility. Rolling the pant legs ensures a more relaxed feel and look. Slip on a grey fuzzy jumper and some leather booties for a quick but stylish look this season! For a look with more pizazz, put a loose white tee with those boyfriend jeans and add a long dramatic icy blue cardigan! Put on a long delicate necklace and some adorable pastel pink oxfords for a little fun! Feeling cold? Just throw on a wrap or a scarf like the one styled in the picture above. Caramel leather booties are also a favorite of mine in any outfit with neutral tones during the winter. They make an outfit just pop! One of my favorite outfits to ensemble is an outfit with a strong contrast! I love how an outfit can be subtly dramatic and make a big statement while using simple pieces! Try choosing a base color such as white or black or cream. I am drawn toward light, neutral tones when choosing a base. Try starting with some acid wash denim and a loose fitted white tee. White tees are perfect for any outfit and are an essential in any wardrobe! In my eyes you can't have enough white tees. I like mine relaxed, loose fitted, a tad sheer for some sexiness, v neck and it has to be super soft! To add the contrast element, pick an item that is of bold color! A black blazer or blue cardigan are perfect! Bold layers of these contrasting colors can create a well put together look, like in this outfit ensemble. Nothing is better than black and white as a color combo for me but try something new! I also love black and royal blue and black and cranberry for this Christmas season! Have fun with contrasting! It's an easy way to make an outfit stand out effortlessly! |
